Milan to Taranto 1965

What a performance! Fly nine scooterists to Italy; give them just two days to get to know one another; tell them that they are now three groups representing British Lambretta riders; and then set them off to compete against twenty-nine experienced teams from various Continental countries in the toughest-yet 1,000-mile Milan to Taranto Regularity Trial organised by Lambretta Club d'Italia.

Snetterton 1968

It was 1968 and I was 17 at the time. I had arrived at my mate Burts house early (before 9.00am) on Saturday morning. We had over the weeks before gathered equipment together and replaced all the cables on his SX150.

He had just purchased this from Norman Ronald (F reg) who had been racing it in Italy; it was a metallic burnt orange 'S' type and had a very crisp sounding exhaust which had been cut and welded back to allow more of an angle when leaning over.

Cambrian Scoot

I recently found the programmes for the Cambrian Scoot 1964/1965 

Just a few words of introduction... I have been involved in Scooter sporting events since 1960 whilst a member of the Nottingham Outlaws - a mixed make scooter club. Many competitive events were entered but it became obvious that Lambretta's were the most successful along with a strong Vespa following. After joining the Nottingham Bowmen Lambretta Club, I met John and Norman Ronald, Bob Jackson, Gary Gostelow and many others who have remained lifelong friends. Navigation and other 'duties' followed for the Ronald Brothers which involved the Isle of Man week, Snetterton 12 hour trials, Scoot to Scotland, etc. And so to the Cambrian Two Day Scoot - a very competitive Semi-Sporting Trial...
